A subdomain is part of a web address which is under the main domain, such as name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every subdomain could have its own site and records and can even be hosted through a different company if you need to use a certain feature that isn't provided by your current service provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a company site along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can acquire your products. You can even have a forum where they can comment on the products and by using subdomains instead of subfolders you'll avoid any probability of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping your sites separated is more secure in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Web Hosting

Our shared web hosting plans will enable you to create countless subdomains for every domain hosted inside your account without any problem. Provided that the main domain is added, it requires 2 mouse clicks to create a subdomain and select what folder it'll open (if different from the default one), create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for quick access and administration. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using instant access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a limit for the total number of subdomains which you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you need.
